pork & vegetable dumplings

ingredients

For the dumpling filling:

  • 1 lbs ground pork

  • 3-4 green onions

  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger

  • 3-4 celery stalks

  • 1 cup cabbage

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp sesame oil

  • 5 tbsp olive oil

  • Pinch of Himalayan pink salt

  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper

For the dipping sauce:

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger

  • 2-3 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Directions

  1. Wash and finely mince the cabbage, celery, green onion and ginger.

  2. In a large bowel, combine the cabbage, celery, green onion, ginger and ground pork. Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil and Himalayan pink salt.

  3. Mix all the ingredients, ensuring to stir everything together in one direction, only (i.e. clockwise).

  4. Add some freshly ground black pepper and continue stirring.

  5. Place about half a tablespoon of the filling in wonton wrappers and/or dumpling dough. Fold and press the edges together. Be sure to not add too much filling, otherwise the dumplings will break when being cooked.

  6. Add some water to a pot and bring to a boil. Then, drop about 8-10 dumplings in the pot, stirring occasionally to ensure they do not stick to the bottom. Cover the pot with a lid. When the water begins boiling again, add about 150mL of cold water to the pot periodically to ensure the dumplings do not break open. *This process of adding cold water to the boiling pot should be done at least 3 times to ensure they are fully cooked.

  7. In the meantime, prepare the dipping sauce by adding the ingredients together in a small bowl.

  8. Remove the dumplings once they begin to float. Serve with dipping sauce and enjoy!

We hope you love this recipe as much as we do! Let us know what you think.
